Dogs and Micro-chipping
You can easily find a lost dog if the dog is microchipped Millions of dogs get lost every year. Many dogs end up in a shelter. Only a few of them get a new home and many of them who are not so lucky are euthanized. For that reason it is very important that your dog has identification at all times. Collars with tags are good identification, but not a permanent one as a dog can lose the collar or somebody can remove it from the dog. Permanent identification The best permanent identification for a dog is micro chipping. A microchip consists of a small computer chip in a special glass cell compatible with dog’s tissue. A microchip is usually implanted to dog’s neck. The procedure is very simple with little or no pain and done by any local veterinarian. Microchip placed in a dog can easily be detected with a special chip-reading device. If a micro chipped dog is lost and later on found by some other people or placed to local shelter, its owner can easily be found if any veterinarian office or an animal shelter reads the dog’s microchip with a scanner. Microchips do not need to be replaced as they last for the whole life of a dog. However, in some cases it can happen that a microchip implanted in a dog cannot be identified from unknown reasons. |
