                                  Inappropriate dog foods

                                  All food which is good for humans is not appropriate for your dog. Be aware that there are many foods which can be toxic for dogs, or, in mild case, cause gastrointestinal problems, such as diarrhea and vomiting. Here’s a list of some most commonly known foods that are not appropriate for dogs:

                                  1. Coffee and alcoholic beverages
                                  2. Chocolate: Chocolate contains Theo bromine, which can affect the functioning of the dog's heart. The effects can vary with the amount of chocolate consumed, size of the dog, and the type of chocolate.
                                  3. Onions and Garlic: may cause digestive problems in dogs. While very small amounts may not cause any problems, large amounts can cause anemia in dogs.
                                  4. Grapes and Raisins: effects of consuming grapes and raisins in dogs include choking hazards, vomiting, and kidney failure (especially grapes treated with fertilizers and pesticides). However, it has also been observed that grapes without these chemicals are also not good for dogs and can cause renal failure, if ingested in large amounts.
                                  5. Walnuts and Macadamia Nuts: Some observations show that dogs eating these nuts have difficulty in limb movements. Such dogs could develop muscle weakness, inflammation of the limbs, and tend to pant a lot. In some severe cases, paralysis of the hindquarters may also happen.
                                  6. Uncooked bread dough – can swell in the stomach and cause discomfort or even blockages
                                  7. Raw eggs - this can be source of salmonella infection
                                  8. Fish bones
                                  9. Bones – risk of choking or can block the digestive tract if swallowed in large chunks;
                                  10. Spoiled food, tables scraps, sugar-free gums, baby food, candies, salt, all sweets, sauces, spicy food ….

                                  While some foods cause vomiting and diarrhea in dogs, some others may cause severe problems, like renal failure. Sometimes, dog food allergies can result in chronic gastritis after consuming such foods.

                                  Raw meat is a subject of debate

                                  Raw meat can be source of salmonella infection, however, there’s a growing number of dog owners who rely on a raw food diet for their dog and who report their dogs have fewer health problems since being on raw diet.
